A dos manos - España

Roger Estrany Gascón

Born in 1976, I come from the world of …

… skateboarding in the 90s, as well as drawing, comics, and illustration. Then, I started in tattoo by making a homemade machine in 1996. The attraction towards the ink and the skin quickly becomes like a wave that invaded my space … Drawing and ink, ink and drawing, travels and many hours of work, a lot of skins and needles to improve, little by little, my technique and find my line. Recovering what is in the tattoo is important, which heals and transmits energy; the contact with the person and the body, the shapes, and the balance of the ink on each of the tattoos. This is the most important for me. We do not get tattooed because we do, it is an answer to a question. All these years with ink between my fingers, I always seek new forms to understand what is for me the ink in the skin: I work only with black because that’s how I see the balance of the ink on the body. Both the proportions, the tattooed spaces as well as those of the bare skin speak and are heard on the body where they will eventually find themselves.
